After performing at the BET Awards on Sunday, Giveon is in with Maxwell and Crystal at the Z100 studio to talk about his viral video, facing technical issues (video below).
"In the moment i heard it and it obviously is technical difficulty, but it's not as obvious as I think," Giveon said on the mic issue. He relays to Max and Crystal that he thought people would know it was technical and not his real voice. "Right when it happened I thought 'oh people will know that it's a technical difficulty,' they gave me the wrong mic. The mic was set in a completely different key." Giveon continues, "No matter what words came out of my mouth it will come out in G, even if I sing in B. I thought it would be common sense, but it didn't really translate."
After the performance Giveon took to Twitter saying, Not @BET sabotaging my mic …… @LilNasX I get it!!!!" Refering to Lil Nas X's lack of nominations from BET. Giveon tells Max and Crystal, "I just wanted to crack a joke and make light of the situation."
He later tells the duo that BET has not reached out to him, but he has been in work and promotion mode.
