Nas and DJ Premier plan to drop their long-awaited album just in time for the holidays.
Preemo confirmed the album's release date in the middle of his show in the UK on Wednesday night, November 19. He was onstage with The Alchemist at the O2 Academy as part of their "He's The Preemo, I'm The Chemist World Tour" when he announced that he and Nasty Nas are dropping their joint album on December 12.
"How many people are ready for that Nas Premier album?" Preemo asked the crowd. "Are you ready for it? December 12. Get ready muthaf**kas!"
The duo first announced the project nearly two decades ago and has been working on it ever since. They finally teased their album's arrival last year when they dropped "Define My Name" in honor of Illmatic's 30th anniversary. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Nas confirmed that the album is complete and revealed it would feature music he and Preemo have worked on from the early 2000s to the present.
“I can’t wait for people to finally hear it," Nas said. "I don’t know about anybody else, but for me and him, it was personally a long time coming for us to do it.”
Nas and DJ Premier's album is the final installment of Mass Appeal's "Legend Has It" series. The Queensbridge native and his longtime label helped release several major albums from iconic rappers, including Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Slick Rick, Big L, Mobb Deep and De La Soul. Posdnuos and DJ Maseo plan to drop Cabin In The Sky, which is dedicated to the group's late member Trugoy The Dove, this Friday.
Look out for Nas and DJ Premier's joint album on December 12.
