Mass Appeal is preparing to drop several new albums as part of an upcoming legendary series that the game has never seen before.
On Wednesday, April 16, the record label announced Legend Has It… featuring seven albums from seven acts including Nas & DJ PREMIER, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, De La Soul, Big L, and a surprise artist who will make their grand return. The label revealed the lineup in a stunning trailer, which shows a factory pressing fresh records from all the aforementioned artists.
“This is more than music,” the caption reads. “It’s a tribute to the icons who shaped Hip-Hop and took it from the streets of NYC to the world.”
The series will consist of Nas and DJ PREMIER’s long-awaited joint album, which was announced last year. Ghostface Killah’s rumored Supreme Clientele 2 is another fixture in the series along with a brand-new album from Raekwon The Chef called Emperor’s New Clothes. Legend Has It… will also pay homage to the late Prodigy, Trugoy The Dove and Big L. Mobb Deep and De La Soul will release new music from the deceased artists while Big L’s estate will debut a new posthumous album.
Havoc of Mobb Deep told iHeartRadio about the duo's forthcoming project last year. At the time, the rapper-producer had just received the blessing of Prodigy's estate to begin working on the album alongside fellow rap icon The Alchemist. It will be the first studio LP from Havoc and Prodigy since his partner-in-rhyme passed away in 2017.
All seven projects are expected to arrive between now and the end of 2025. More announcements for the respective projects will be shared within the next few weeks. Big L’s estate provided more background information about the late rapper’s forthcoming release. See their statement below.
