Big Sean Raps About Rumored Kendrick Lamar Beef On New Nipsey Hussle Collab

Big Sean's new album, Detroit 2, is scheduled for release on September 4 and the rapper has unleashed a new single from the set featuring the fallen Nipsey Hussle.

"Deep Reverence," which was produced by Hit-Bot and G. Ry, clocks in at almost-four-minutes and hears the rapper, 32, take a stab at his career, romance with Jhene Aiko and, most notably, his rumored tension with Kendrick Lamar. "After what happened to Nipsey, I reached out to Kendrick/ It wasn't even no real issues there to begin with/ Lack of communication and wrong information/ From people fueled by their ego, it's like mixin' flames with diesel," he spits during the second verse of the track. Earlier this year, Sean previously downplayed any tension with K. Dot in an interview with Joe Budden.

As for Hussle, the late, great rapper leaves a strong impression at the top of the track, declaring, "F**k rap, I’m a street legend, block love me with a deep reverence/ I was birthed in a C-section/ Hella cops and police presence, we got opps so we keep weapons." On Instagram, Sean honored the fallen star with a photo of the pair and accompanying caption: "Rest In Power bro! The World miss you n need to hear your voice! DEEP REVERENCE OUT NOW."

Big Sean announced his fifth studio album without a release date in March, but details around the collection's release date were unveiled on Monday (August 24). It follows the 2017 release of I Decided, which boasted collaborations with Eminem, Migos and more. "Detroit, to me, is home but I feel like it's more than just a city, you know?" the rapper previously said of the LP, which is said to be a sequel of sorts to his 2012 mixtape, Detroit. "It's, for real, a mentality."

In addition to confirming the album details, Sean also dropped a round of Detroit 2-themed merchandise, including hoodies, bundles, tees, hats, totes, and face masks. Click here to see the full collection!
