Dua Lipa Gets Animated For Psychedelic 'Hallucinate' Music Video

Dua Lipa gets delirious in her cartoon-themed music video.

Friday (July 10) marked the release of Lipa’s newest single “Hallucinate,” which appears on her iconic sophomore album, Future Nostalgia. The song’s arrival was also accompanied by a trippy visual which reimagines the songbird in animated form as she goes from performing for a crowd of cartoons before setting off on a dreamy, delirious trip down the dancefloor with dancing unicorns, flowers, and other colorful creatures.

“Hallucinate” has all the elements of an irresistible dance track booming with disco house beats that bring to mind Madonna’s “Hung Up” and “Get Together.” “Put you in my hall of fame, middle of the wall/ Yeah, you're my one, my favourite, my ride or die, oh/ Yeah, I'ma love you like a fool/ Breathe you in till I hallucinate,” Lipa sings on the track.

In a previous interview, the 24-year-old said the bop, which she calls her “festival song,” deviates from the other songs on Future Nostalgia for its liberating message.

"This is quite different from the other songs on the album, which all tie in together. But I just wanted this to be like a fun '90s dance track," she explained. "It felt so freeing. This one’s my festival song. Whenever I make songs, I imagine what they’d be like if I performed them at Glastonbury. I knew there was no way I could do a festival without this song."

Lipa's new LP, which landed in March, also includes previously-released songs like “Future Nostalgia,” “Don’t Start Now,” “Physical,” and “Break My Heart.”
